About the Department

1.      Scope and Importance of department-

 Environmental Science is an interdisciplinary science which encompasses areas viz, chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Geography, Geology, physics, medical science, life science, agriculture, public health, sanitary engineering etc. The subject offers exciting opportunities in various fields from basic research to an industry-oriented career. As mentioned earlier, Environmental Science combines various subjects. Even if you are not pursuing a B. Sc or Bachelor’s in Environmental Science, you can still be an environmentalist with other disciplinary specialization. If you are a Marine Biologist, you can go for a certificate course or a diploma in Environmental Science. The other career fields that are related to Environmental Science and will help you in planning your career successfully are; Water Resource Management, Soil Ecology, Wildlife & Forestry, Environmental Education, Marine Biology, Fire Sciences, Wildlife Conservation, Biological Conservation, Energy & Climate Change, Ecology, Town Planning, Sustainable Energy, Environmental Engineering 

2.      Introduction of Department-

 The Department made a modest beginning in 2010 with the commencement of B.Sc. (Environmental Science) course. The department has highly qualified and experienced teaching staff and who strive hard to impart quality education to the students. The Department has well equipped laboratories with latest equipment/instruments. The Department has one laboratory. The Department also has a departmental library where reputed International and National editions of books and Journals are made available to the              students.
