INTRODUCTION :

S.S.V.P. Sanstha’s Bhausaheb N.S. Patil Arts & M.F.M.A. Commerce and L.K.Dr.P.R.Ghogrey Science College was Established in 1956.  At that time Library was very small unit with less number of books.

In the year 1965 Library has shifted in a new building. Science College Library is separated in July 1967.  Library is located in the campus with area of 5000 sq. ft. construction.  Our Library is a two-storied building.  On ground floor there is a Librarian room, and two sections for reference books and all other books.  On first floor there is staff reading room and students reading hall.  On second floor there are kept old books, periodicals, magazines etc. Library is well ventilated with adequate facilities. It is partially computerized library with Internet facility.

The college library is one of the richest libraries in the area of North Maharashtra University having 39095 Books including Reference Books, encyclopedia, etc. on various subjects.  The college library is regularly subscribing 37 National, International journals, magazines and periodicals.

The Library is attached with a reading hall, with seating capacity of 100 students.  The Library also provides separate reference section along with seating arrangement.

The reference section has a number of books, Audio visual aids, periodicals, journals and magazines.  It helps the teachers, postgraduate students and research students.

The central library is open from 10.30 a.m. to 05.30 p.m. on all working days.

 

OBJECTIVE :

  1. To assist the users in making proper use of library resources and services.
  2. To help the users in upgrading their knowledge and information.
  3. To provide effective and efficient service.
  4. To help the every users by providing the information of his specialization and providing the latest information to the needful on availability.
  5. To help the users to access information from internet.
  6. To develope & maintain reading habits among the students.
  7. To develope print, audio-visual and digital collections relevant to the users.
  8. To develope the library website to access the digital resources to all users.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION OF LIBRARY :

It includes the classification and cataloging of the Books in the library. Books are classified according to Colon Classification system of 6th edition. For cataloging Classified Catalog Code (CCC) methods is applied with some local variations. Catalogue cards are made according to classified subject, authors, title and accession number.

LIBRARY ADVISORY COMMITTEE :

Library advisory Committee is set-up under the Chairmanship of the Principal. Librarian is the Secretary of this committee & Following Assistant / Associate professors are member of the committee. The committee members are given below in the table.

In addition The General Secretary ia also a member of Library committee from student is also student representative of the library committee. Minimum two meetings are held annually, for the Budget and placing orders of books, journals, periodicals etc. The first meeting is held in the month of July or August and second in the February or March.

LIBRARY AUTOMATION :

The library is computerised by Library Management software Lib-Man. Lib-Man is an Integrated, multi-lingual packege, which is computerised all the inhouse operations of library. This packege is userfriendly & can be handled / operated by any staff of library easily. which is one of the recognized software. The Data base of Books in the library is Completed. In future the library will be implementing a Bar Code Technology. The basic technical operations of the library have been defined in following modules.

BOOK EXHIBITION :

This is the marketing practice for the utilization of available library resources. Most of the users are not aware about the all library holding. It is a freedom to user for choose their satisfying book from the whole holding. Library arranges book exhibition on different occasion. (Librarian day, Wachan Prerana day etc.) We display rare books, newly added books of particular subject which are available in the library. This will lead to increased awareness among readers about knowledge wealth the library process they can demand the books accordingly. Specially post graduate students and researchers will be get benefited more by this practice. Book Exhibition should be arranged by the librarian every year to acquaint the user about the collection. Also books sellers and vendors can be invited to organize book exhibition of new books, C.D. & D.V.D. Exhibition arrange in college library.

LIBRARY ORIENTATION /  AWARENESS PROGRAMME FOR USERS :

At the start of academic year the student should know about library and its reading material, reference books, activities and programs. User education is extra curricular activity which increases student ability to locate materials they need, encourage the learners to make libraries extensive use. User education programme will help to raise awareness about library services and to optimize use of library by students. This programme should be carried out to newly admitted students. As well as library staff provide the information regarding how to use reference books, how to search books in the library.

 

 

BEST LIBRARY USER AWARD :

To motivate students for use of library and it’s services, ‘Best library User Award’ has been started from 2015-16. Two students are selected from the UG and two from PG. on the basis of statistical data and has been awarded at the ‘Vachan Prerana Din’ on 15th October.
